Zero Hunger Xero Waste by Kroger logo

The Kroger Company became a Recycle, MI Partner in 2020 and we are glad to have their support. Kroger promotes sustainability initiatives through their Zero Hunger/Zero Waste social impact plan. The plan aims to "end hunger in the places we call home and eliminate waste across our company by 2025."

One program that Kroger is known for at local stores is their "Be a Zero Hero: Recycle that Plastic!" program. Through local stores, Kroger accepts a variety of plastic film type materials, including plastic grocery and retail shopping bags, food storage bags, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves and bags, package overwrap, case stretch wrap, cereal box liners, plastic shipping envelopes, bubble wrap, and air pillows. As with any recycling program, please make sure that your recyclables are clean and dry and consult Kroger's recycling guide before you drop off material.

Kroger's Be a Zero Hero program has helped to recycle nearly 187 million pounds of plastic over the last three years. Kroger recycles the plastic waste from customers along with that collected from store use and sends it to a manufacturer who turns it into composite decking. Recycle, MI appreciates Kroger's efforts to help Michiganders recycle where they live, work, and play.
