We recently sat down with our friends at Cascade Cart Solutions to learn more about their innovative work in the recycling cart industry. Cascade is a leading manufacturer of residential rolling recycling carts made with recycled plastic content.

Cascade's core business is supplying durable rolling carts for curbside recycling programs across the country. However, they are much more than just a cart company - Cascade is vertically integrated into automotive and custom compounding, making rubber components for major automotive groups. This vertical integration allows them to have better control over their manufacturing inputs and outputs.

Cascade sells their carts to haulers, municipalities, and distributors nationwide with customers like Waste Management and other major haulers. Their extensive distributor network covers the entire U.S.

The EcoCart is Cascade's latest innovation - a recycling cart made with 10% post-consumer recycled plastic from curbside recycling streams. This breakthrough product helps create domestic demand for the plastic we're all collecting at the curb. Cascade worked hand-in-hand with Waste Management to develop the EcoCart through a cross-functional team effort. In just the first year, over 253,000 pounds of recycled HDPE and PP plastic was used in the carts.

According to Cascade one of the biggest challenges facing the recycling industry and in recycled plastic processing and manufacturing is contamination in feedstocks. Cascade has invested in advanced co-injection molding technology to ensure a consistent, high-quality product even when using recycled resins with some contamination levels. Their materials engineering team is constantly working to improve the quality and performance of their products.

Cascade Cart Solutions continues to lead the way in innovation and sustainability in the recycling industry. By utilizing recycled materials and advanced manufacturing techniques, they are setting a standard for innovation.
