Recycle Coach
For 25 years, Recycle Coach and its parent company Municipal Media have developed resources and education around waste management and recycling, providing communication solutions for municipalities across the United States. Recycle Coach's mission is to provide residents with accurate, up-to-date information on proper disposal and recycling practices.
Communities use Recycle Coach's innovative app to serve as the "source of information" for residents, providing reminders on scheduled curbside pick-ups and offering guidance on how to recycle or dispose of various items correctly. This digital approach represents a significant evolution from their origins as a print business, demonstrating their ability to adapt to changing market needs and technological advancements.
One of Recycle Coach's most successful features is their "What Goes Where" tool. This comprehensive database includes 400 waste materials and an impressive 15,000 terms, ensuring that residents can easily find information on how to dispose of virtually any item. This tool not only simplifies the recycling process for users but also provides localized education based on specific community guidelines.
Looking to the future, Recycle Coach is exploring the potential of AI to enhance their services. They envision using AI to facilitate more effective communication between municipalities and residents, handling both inbound complaints and outbound service alerts. To address evolving waste management needs, Recycle Coach has expanded its educational modules to cover a wide range of waste streams. These include furniture, textile waste, construction materials, gift-giving items, and more. By providing comprehensive information on various waste types, they aim to educate residents on the broader impact of proper waste management, including the effects of contamination on material recovery facilities (MRFs).
Recycle Coach has made significant strides in expanding their reach, recently signing contracts with the entire state of Illinois and renewing their partnership with New Jersey. These statewide initiatives serve as excellent examples of how state-level support can amplify the impact of recycling education programs.
Recycle Coach's commitment to Michigan is unwavering. "We love Michigan and the people and we will always have Michigan's back," said Recycle Coach president Jeff Galad.
Recycle Coach is dedicated to helping municipalities across the country improve their recycling programs and engage residents more effectively in sustainable waste management practices.
