If you’ve ever seen a cup or take-out container labeled as compostable you might have seen an Eco-Product item. While starting off as a manufacturer of recycled office and building supplies, Eco-Products now has flourished to become one of the biggest manufacturers of sustainable foodservice packaging in the country. They take green products to a new level, centering their mission around high quality renewable, compostable, and recyclable cups, straws, dinnerware, containers and cutlery.

Eco-Products is paving the way for sustainability nationwide by dedicating substantial resources towards organics-focused education, advocacy, and consulting. One way they demonstrate the environmental impact of switching from single-use to compostable products is by conducting lifecycle analyses. These efforts help organizations contextualize the impact of using Eco-Products through reports that quantify greenhouse gas emissions.

Eco-Products offers direct guidance to clients on waste reduction, taking organics streams that have previously been rejected at composting facilities due to contamination and coaching them on the do’s and don’ts so they could begin effectively composting again. This support at the local level, whether at colleges, businesses, or municipalities, makes Eco-Products a tremendous resource to its customers, increasing effectiveness and volume of organics collections. Eco-Products regularly sets aside funds to engage in impact-centered projects and other initiatives to engage sustainability-minded organizations. Some of these initiatives include:

  • Collaboration with composting facilities to increase availability of their products throughout their region
  • Webinars advocating for compostable food packaging
  • Partnering with the National Co-Op Grocers, with over 300 co-ops, to introduce composting to certain stores

Eco-Products is excited to continue to expand operations in Michigan. As compost services expand within the state they will have resource-conscious solutions at-the-ready for businesses as well as expertise to offer to communities across the state.
